Our Design Team:
Venterra’s Design team incorporates the design and analysis of foundations and substations for Floating and fixed Offshore Wind, Monopiles and Jackets, T&I, Onshore and Offshore substation design and Onshore Renewables.
Role Description:
Venterra Japan is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer with a balanced mix of technical expertise in geotechnical or structural engineering and strong commercial acumen in business development and project management. Based in Tokyo, Japan, this role will play a pivotal part in advancing our ambitious projects in the renewable energy and offshore wind sectors. As a key member of our Tokyo team, you will lead technical projects, drive business growth, and manage client relationships across Japan and the broader APAC region.
Key responsibilities:
Technical (50%)
- Lead and execute technical aspects of engineering projects, with a focus on geotechnical and structural engineering for offshore energy solutions.
- Liaise with certification bodies (NK Committee) to support developers in offshore wind farm certification process.
- Work with clients and contractors to facilitate site investigations and feasibility studies to support the design and development of renewable energy projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural (primary and secondary steel) and geotechnical insights into project planning and design.
- Ensure technical excellence and compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Contribute to the innovation and optimization of engineering solutions to enhance project efficiency, performance, and environmental impact.
Commercial (50%)
- Manage end-to-end project lifecycles, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring project alignment with client goals and building opportunities for future collaborations.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, actively participating in business development initiatives to expand Venterra’s presence in Japan and APAC.
- Prepare and present proposals, technical reports, and commercial bids, positioning Venterra as a leader in offshore energy solutions.
- Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders to optimize project outcomes and support strategic goals.
Key Skills/Experience/Competencies:
- At least 5 years of experience in geotechnical or structural engineering, ideally within the offshore wind, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Project Management: Proven experience in leading complex engineering projects from inception through completion, with a track record of on-time, within-budget delivery.
- Business Development: Strong commercial sense and demonstrated success in client-facing roles, proposal development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in technical analysis, design software, and data interpretation to support engineering decisions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in both English and Japanese is required.
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
