Following on from the value engineering work provided during the tender phase of this project to L&M Keating, GDG was awarded the detailed design services contract relating to specific elements of this 216m long landing berth at Castletownbere Fishery Harbour Centre, Dinish Island, Co. Cork
Those tasks asterisked, also required the liaison of the client’s engineer during the project in terms of contractual overlap from tender through to construction stage.
Separate Design Basis Statement and Geotechnical Interpretive Report documents were prepared as a basis of setting down and agreeing the necessary design assumptions relating to the project.
Design in this case has included the implementation of the value engineered quay wall design and associated designs (given above) conceived at tender stage to detailed design level into suitable reports and construction drawings. On site assistance has also been provided in terms of dredging sampling strategy relating to compliance with requirements from the Environmental Protection Agency (Ireland).
Despite Keating Construction’s contract terminating, and the works eventually restarting again with a new contractor, Sorensen, GDG has continued to have an ongoing role in the project in terms of construction stage technical advice.
